Same address, new look. Fresher, lighter, more vibrant: our new website is now live. We wanted it to reflect what bb&b stands for: clear, precise and contemporary, with technology and design that enhance the content and user experience.
THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
On the technology side, our Technical Director has opted for a ‘headless’ WordPress architecture combining a frontend developed with React and Next.js with a WordPress backend, with the two environments communicating via a GraphQL API.
This architecture combines the management flexibility of a tried-and-tested CMS with the performance and freedom offered by React and Next.js: fast, fluid rendering; enhanced security; a robust and scalable architecture; and full control over responsiveness, interactions and the user experience. We thus retain the simplicity of WordPress for content management, whilst freeing ourselves from its constraints when designing the user experience.
UNDERSTATED STYLE AS A DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
In terms of design, our Artistic Director has taken the contemporary, understated style so dear to bb&b a step further, without breaking with the brand’s heritage and personality. A structured grid. Precise typography. White space to let the content breathe.
A deliberately limited colour palette. Above all, the design prioritises clarity and the hierarchy of information. Photography, central to bb&b’s identity, naturally plays a prominent role. The images bring the projects to life, whilst the interface takes a back seat to let the content and the projects speak for themselves. Transitions, interactions and animations complement this visual language with restraint: they add rhythm to navigation without becoming an end in themselves.
AI AS A CREATIVE TOOL
Generative AI has also found its place in the project. In particular, we have used it to transform certain still images into animated sequences. This is a way of broadening our range of tools and exploring new possibilities, whilst retaining what matters most: control over the artistic direction.
AND ALREADY SOME AWARDS
The result reflects our approach to digital: relevant technological choices, a meticulous design and content placed at the heart of the experience. And we’ve already had our first success: the public at the CSS Design Awards recognised the site in three categories – Best UI Design, Best UX Design and Best Innovation. The professional jury also awarded it the Special Kudos Award.
